My Travel: Ella Stephen - musician

Singer/guitarist Ella Stephen is a rising star of British country music. Her new single "Electricity" is out on November 16th 2018. Unsurprisingly, her favourite places might have something to do with the music she loves.

TW: What is your earliest travel memory?
ES: When I was 5 I went to Disneyland Paris with my family - I hugged Mickey Mouse and I remember being so happy I cried! Can that be the earliest and the best?
TW: What was your favourite childhood holiday?
ES: This is a tricky one. Throughout my childhood we mainly went to Spain & France and each trip was a special one to me. Got to say though, in Spain we used to go to all of the water parks, back when I was a little adrenalin junkie. I had no issue throwing myself off the highest water slide in Europe. I see it now and just feel a tiny bit sick!
TW: Where’s your favourite destination?
ES: I’ve travelled a fair bit of America now and I have to say that my favourite destination has got to be Nashville (not a massive shock considering I play country music!). It’s rare you go somewhere and realise straight away that you need to go and live there.
TW: What’s top of your yet-to-see list?
ES: I definitely want to travel throughout South America. I have family from Buenos Aires and it would be pretty cool to give them a visit. I’m a big fan of a road trip and going through Brazil and Argentina would be an absolute dream.
TW: Who would be your ideal travel companion?
ES: Hmmm, OK I need to think about this properly. I probably should pick someone intelligent, who would have the most information about an area and has a great sense of direction… But I mean, I’m basically obsessed with John Mayer and Keith Urban, so I’d pack in the sensible stuff and just have one of those guys.
TW: What was your best ever travel experience?
ES: Driving across the 7 mile bridge on the way to Key West in the US is honestly breathtaking. Anyone who hasn’t done that drive absolutely has to. The other one has to be sitting at the top of a waterfall in Yosemite...ridiculously awesome.
TW: What was your worst ever travel experience?
ES: I haven't had anything majorly bad to be honest.. One year I went to Cape Verde with my best friend and we both got burned pretty badly (my skin was fairly close in colour to my hair) on like day 2. We both hurt so bad!
TW: If money was irrelevant, where would you go tomorrow?
ES: If money was irrelevant, I’d be packing up and planning on not coming back for a long time. I’ve always wanted to just go to the airport and just pick a destination on the spot. That would be so fun.
TW: Where would you play your dream gig?
ES: I don’t have a specific place right now (obviously anywhere like the O2 or Madison Square Garden would be incredible), but just to play to a crowd with people singing what you wrote in your bedroom back to you. That’s gotta be the dream wherever you are.
TW: Chicken or Fish?
ES: Random, I like it. Chicken every time.
TW: Easyjet or Emirates?
ES: My Grandparents are literally weirdly obsessed with Emirates, no one has any idea why. So for that I HAVE to go Easyjet. Also who doesn’t love orange.
TW: What’s your favourite attraction, museum or national park?
ES: It’s gotta be Yosemite. If you haven't been, you have to, trust me!
